Another year and another birthday – I’m officially in my mid 20’s. What was supposed to be an unplanned birthday turned out to be a week full of dinners with friends. I’m not complaining, I love dining with friends but near the end I will say, I was getting pretty exhausted. Working seven days straight, dinners almost every evening then getting home after 12am is pretty tiring. Though I unexpectedly felt pretty spoiled this year for my birthday. Who doesn’t love getting spoiled? I had a lovely dinner at Nuba with Mitzi and Craig. It had been over a year since we all had dined together and that was great. Wednesday my closest girlfriends decided to throw me a surprise birthday dinner at Guu which was extra amazing and spoiled me with a bunch of gifts then. Thursday I had dinner with Methsse, Sarah, Lauren and Parsons at my favourite Greek restaurant then we took a nice stroll on the quay. Friday, my actual birthday, was a simple dinner with my sister and my boyfriend at one of my favourite sushi joints. I was surprised with the ultimate birthday gift after dinner – a Chanel wallet. Siiiiiiiigh… I love it so so so much. Saturday, I had high tea with Jeanette and my sister at the Fairmount Hotel Vancouver – that was nice, chill and romantic. Then my sister took me out to watch one of my favourite plays – the Alter Boyz. It’s so hilarious. It was the second time for me watching it, the first was in New York in 2007 and it was so funny then and it was funny now.

Anyways, this shirt was also an early birthday gift. I’m a sucker for two-tone anything. I enjoy the half chambray and half striped shirt – it kind of has a Robert Geller feel to it. I thought it’d be fun to play around with stripes and prints together so I paired it with these Club Monaco shorts… okay, they’re really swim trunks but who really cares. I love the unusual print on the shorts, it kind of reminds me of a print you’d find on an old plate or something.

I Love You

Just in general a visually stunning music video. The contrast in colours are just amazing with all the fuchsias, greens, purples and golds. Let’s just be real – the gotti looking Versace earings, over elaborate belts, chunky gold bangles and choker are amazing. If I was a girl and could afford those earings, I would totally rock those out. I love the piratta look with the silk scarves tied in the hair. In one of the live performances CL even had a parrot on her shoulder. Good track, great fashion and cool girls – love this group.

I think what I enjoy most about this fall look book for H&M is the mixed race model. I think that’s one of my favourite things about H&M as a company – using models of all ethnicities. The current Divided by H&M campaign has this super cute Asian model in it and the mens campaign has this beautiful black male model. I mean don’t get me wrong, I love caucasian models too but it’s nice to see a change-up. Other than that, I love how clean this look book is and how minimal it’s styled. I really enjoy the two-tone sweater – feels very Marni inspired almost. The letterman jacket is great and I just love how handsome that green blazer is! I have a hard time enjoying green generally but that is a really beautiful piece. Let’s be real too… the maroon is amazing, I’m still not over it.

Apologies for the late post! Been enjoying the summer that’s finally here in the city which is a fine enough reason to ignore my blog or so I think. Here’s a picture taken by Ben of VanStreet – thought I’d post it up. Kind of caught me off guard when Ben approached me and asked to take a photo of my outfit. I was just taking a fifteen minute breather outside of the store when he approached me. I obviously don’t dress any different from my work life. It was also the first day I wore my new Patrik Ervell jacket out. Got it for 70% off, what a steal! It’s a ladies baseball jacket – the body is cotton, the collar, base and cuff are silk. I’m also loving the japanese-esque dragonfly print. You’ll see it again in a later post I’m sure!

So Jace decided to put together a blooper video… I wasn’t really going to post it but it’s all good. Here’s to laughs, smiles, screams, nose pickings and shit that should never really be seen.

One of my most favourite sweaters I have ever purchased. I’ve had it for a while now, bought it for myself last Christmas. It’s 100% cashmere and makes me feel like a lady bug. Anyways if you haven’t heard of the Chauncey line before it’s an amazing knitwear line from Brussels. The designer worked with Hermes, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Salvatore Ferragamo. I paired it with the H&M Conscious Collection mint shorts made of organic cotton. Probably the only thing close to pastel-anything I picked up for the season but definitely a colour that’s easy to wear with every shade of grey I have in my closet!

H&M Ladies Fall 2012

There’s too much to enjoy about this ladies H&M fall 2012 look book. For all you little label snobs, I don’t care what you say – H&M is great for their inexpensive prices and to be honest, you get what you pay for. I’ve always love mixing my highs with lows and truly believe in that concept. You’ll probably see most of these pieces in the H&M ladies “Trend” label so keep your eye out. I love the way everything is styled. The metallic skirt with the mustard yellow knit is a great combo. I enjoy the contrast play with the sporty meets lady look. I don’t even mind the over embellished beading details. I’m also loving the floral print on print. I enjoy how it’s also not overly romantic looking but a 90’s Janet Jackson feel to it as well. This truly shows it’s not just about the label but how you put yourself together.
